The programs prepares the students to contribute to the development of nursing science through clinical and theory classes, which is based on scientific principles.
During the programs of B.Sc (Nursing) at RIPANS, students are exposed to a variety of teaching methods all of which are designed to meet the requirement of Indian Nursing Council (INC) and to ensure that the students acquires a sound knowledge and skills in nursing.
Objectives
The following behavior objectives constitute the component of scholarship, practice, co-operation, collaboration, professionalization, and leadership.
Details about the Programme:
The B.Sc(Nursing) programme is a
four year programme and the students have to appear for an examination
at the end of each year up to 4th year. They are expected to have
clinical experience both in hospitals and community settings. The main
activities are as follows:-
Lecture: These are designed to
provide the student with the fundamentals subjects. Each class is held
in the afternoon after clinical exposure in hospitals. Students are
strictly expected to attend the class and must have 75% attendance in
all the theory subjects.
Clinical Experience:- This provide
the student with an opportunity to apply her or his knowledge and
develop appropriate practical skills. They are provided in 4 or 5
numbers of students and practice nursing skills under supervision of
Clinical Instructors. During clinical experience the students are
expected to undertake case study, case presentation on selected patients
and give nursing care to the patients under the guidance of nursing
teachers. This help to develop skills and offer a platform for the
students to participate fully in the learning process. The students must
have 100% attendance in practical to be able to appear in the
university examination. Time missed from clinical experience must be
made up after completion of each year.
Statement of Recognition:- The programs was affiliated to NEHU (now Mizoram University) on 21st may,
1998 and recognized by Indian Nursing Council on 5th March, 2001.
Following this recognition, the students can register themselves in the
State Nursing Council and practice Nursing anywhere in the country.
Admission Requirement :
The minimum age requirement is 17 years
The minimum qualification requirement shall be
10+2 of Hiher Secondary Examination or its equivalent with 50% or more
aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. There is
relaxation of 5% marks in case of ST/SC.
Method of Selection :-
The method of selection for admission of B.Sc (N)
will depend on all the concerned states in the North East States as per
seat allotment in the Institute. Each State of North Eastern Region is
allotted 3 seats where as the Mizoram State is allotted 12 seats being
host State which all together total of 33 seats per year.
Board of Under Graduates studies:
The Vice Chancellor of Mizoram University has
constituted a Board of Undergraduate Studies in B.Sc (N) programme with
the prominent members in the field for a period of three (3) years. The
Principal is appointed for BOG as one of the members of Sikkim Manipal
University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences and NEHU
Shillong.
