A part of Environmental Studies program
On 12th February 2026, 2nd semester students of BMRIT were taken to
Natural History Museum, Mizoram University in partial fulfillment of practical
syllabus for the subject Environmental Studies.
We left the campus at 10:00 am and reached the campus at around 11:30
am, various sections were visited at the center. Briefing and demonstration
class was conducted by the curator of the museum, Dr. Lalrotluanga. Before
entering the museum, students were taught all about the species preserved and
displayed in the museum along with their preservation method. We observed the
various species of reptiles, plants, moths etc. species preserved from Mizoram
where some are Endemic Species. Also, we got the chance to observe the plant
species recently discovered by Mizoram which were placed at the museum. Many
other plant species from Mizoram are also preserved in the Herbarium Section. Visit
to museum was followed by lunch. After lunch Zoology Department animal house
and Environmental Science Department laboratory along with herbarium room in
Mizoram University were visited. We were guided by the concern department
technical expert and researcher in each department. We really appreciate the
guidance we received during the visit from all the departments we've been to on
the day.
