B.Sc Radio Imaging Technology is a 3 years plus 1 year internship undergraduate program, which is split up into 6 semesters. Students who undertake this programs are familiarized with the knowledge of radiography and imaging techniques for efficient diagnosis in the field of medicine. The programs is designed for the students to learn about Radiography and Imaging techniques, Conventional and modern radio-graphic equipment and carry out the whole of diagnostic procedure in an ethical way. Students graduating Radiography and Imaging Technology programs have high future scope as it is one of the growing studies in the field of medicine.Candidates are eligible to apply for B.Sc. ImagingTechnology after the completion of 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks in relevantsubjects. There is a total of 40 seats each year with state wise distributionas follows: Mizoram – 16, Manipur – 3, Nagaland – 3, Meghalaya – 3, Assam – 3,Tripura – 3, Arunachal Pradesh – 3, Sikkim – 3 and outside North-East – 3. Theselection of eligible candidate is done by respective States.The programs was started way back in 1996 as Diploma in X-ray Technician under the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) with an intake capacity of 30 students and programs duration of 2 years. The programs was restructure as hybrid programs namely Diploma in Radio Imaging and Cardio Instrumentation Technology (RICIT) in 2004 under the approval of Higher & Technical Education, Govt. of Mizoram with intake of 33 students and 2 years duration. In 2011 the programs was upgraded to degree programs to. B.Sc. in Radio-Imaging Technology under Mizoram University with intake of 33 students and 3 years plus 1 year internship duration.From 2023 academic session, new syllabus based on Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Allied Health Section 2015-2016, Model Curriculum Handbook will be introduce and the name of the programs will change to B. Sc in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology (BMRIT).From the coming new Academic Session, M. Sc. Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology (MMRIT) will be introduced.
