Visiting Reiek Mountain for Nature Walk program which is a part of Environmental Science course.
For the nature walk at Reiek mountain which was held on
16th April 2025, we left the campus at 8:30 am and reach the site at
around 12:00 noon. Briefing was done after a while and demonstration on quadrat
system for studying plants biodiversity was conducted before the walk. On our way to the mountain students were divided into
five groups and each group did the quadrat layout within the forest. After that
we continued trekking to the top of Reiek mountain. The elevation of the
mountain top is 1465m above sea level and the geographical pattern of the
mountain is hilly with a gentle slope on one side and steep slope on the other
side. The distance of Reiek mountain from the entrance to the mountain top was
3km approximately and this was travelled up and down for about 3 and half
hours.
We reached the village at around 4:30pm and travelled
back from the village at 5pm and the campus was reached by 7:30pm.
