The Department of Optometry organised an awareness and educational programme on “Understanding NCAHP: Role, Functions and Impact on the Optometry Profession.” The session was delivered by Dr. R. Krishna Kumar, President of the Ophthalmic Sciences Professional Council under the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.Dr. Kumar provided valuable insights into the role and functions of NCAHP, focusing on the recognition, registration, standardisation of education and training, professional ethics, competency-based practice and career development in Optometry.The interactive session enhanced the awareness of students and faculty regarding the evolving role of Optometrists and the importance of NCAHP in strengthening professional standards and quality patient care.
