North East Region is admittedly on the most backward areas in the
country. The backwardness is particularly marked in so far as health
care is concerned. The reason are obvious – lack of infrastructure,
physical and psychological distance from the heart of the country,
communication bottle neck, lack of insufficient public consciousness,
lack of attraction to private investment in health sectors in various
reasons.
To overcome the problems the attention of the North
Eastern Council was focused on the extreme need to develop adequate
paramedical manpower to provide the much needed basic paramedical health
care facilities in the health Institution of the North Eastern Regions.
Accordingly the concept of the Regional Institute of Paramedical &
Nursing Sciences finalized by the North Eastern Council in 1992-93 with
the approval of the Government of India. All the allotted seats in
different disciplines of the Institute is distributed as per quota fixed
for to the beneficiary states.
