General Information:
Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Science (RIPANS), Aizawl was set up by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in 1995-96 to provide Nursing, Pharmacy and Paramedical education to the people of North East including Sikkim and to maintain the pace of Nursing, Pharmacy and Paramedical education and services with other developments, medical and technological services. The Institute was transferred to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India from NEC w.e.f 1st April, 2007.
RIPANS is the only Institute under the administrative control of Govt. of India which offers career-oriented program in the field of Nursing, Pharmacy and Paramedical Sciences under one roof. Under Ministry of H & FW, Govt. of India.
Location:
The Institute is located at the outskirt of Aizawl, Mizoram in a secluded hilly slope of about 39.60 bighas. The site is surrounded by National Highway 54 on the South-East and a Hospital and Health Departmental Store on the North-West. The scenic beauty of the Campus is attractive beyond comparison with any other similar Institute. Campus distance from the heart of the capital city of Aizawl is about 10 kms.
Access:-
By road: It is easily accessible by road through the city and from the city center Public transport are easily available.
By air: Lengpui Airport provides Indigo, Air Alliance services connecting to Guwahati, Meghalay, Manipur, Kolkatta and Delhi Airports.
Entry/ Selection:
Selection of the candidate is based on the merit of the entrance examination conducted by each of the eight participating N.E. States.
Participating States:
All the North Eastern States including Sikkim are the Member States and seats for the above program are distributed to the 8 North Eastern states every year as per quota fixed for and accordingly respective States Govt. send their candidates in each discipline for admission.

The Programs are affiliated to Mizoram University (MZU) and are recognized by Indian Nursing Council (INC), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The Administrative Set up of the Institute can be broadly divided into two wings –
(a) Administration Wing (b) Academic Wing.
A. Administrative Wing: Director is the executive head of the Administrative Wing under which there are four sections -
1. Establishment Section: Headed by the Administrative Officer, Establishment Section is looking after the service matters of all employees and overall maintenance of the campus.
2. Accounts Section: Accounts Section is headed by Finance Officer who is the controller of expenditure. Accounts Section is responsible for maintenance of the accounts of the Institute.
3. Training and Placement Section: Headed by the Officer i/c, Training and Placement Section is looking after all the academic matters, admission, examination and internal quality assessment etc.
4. Library: Librarian is looking after the Library of the Institute.
B. Academic Wing: To ensure smooth functioning of the various programs offered by the Institute, Principal/ Heads of Departments are looking after the administration and functioning of each department assisted by Asst. Professors, Demonstrators, Lab. Assistants & Lab. Technicians and other subordinate staff.
Public Facilities
The following facilities are available in the campus:
1. Bank of Baroda, ATM.
2. Grocery shop, Snack bar/ Canteen at the Public Utility Block.
3. Drinking water facility is available in all the floors of each building
4. Adequate Toilet facilities are available in all the floors of each building
